Alice Frances Walker

Alice Frances Walker, our beloved mother and grandmother, left us on February 22, 2017 to join her husband of 58 years, William Reese Walker as well as her daughter Mary Florence “Flossie” Walker and granddaughter, baby Alice Ruth Walker. Born June 16, 1922 to Henry Allen and Mary Frances (McMahon) Long in San Diego, CA. Alice went on to earn a degree in mathematics and became a computer programmer for General Electric in San Jose CA, and Lockheed Electronics in Clear Lake City, TX, all while raising five children.

During the 1960’s and 70’s, she became a trailblazer for fair treatment of women in and outside of the workplace. When denied credit in her own name, based solely on her gender, she fought MasterCard persistently and ultimately prevailed.

After retiring to Hot Springs Village, AR, Alice traveled extensively throughout the country and world before and after Reese’s death in June 2000. By far, her greatest love was her family. She leaves three sons, Allan and his wife Alicia, John and his wife Laura and Jesse Walker as well as one daughter, Ruth Vranas. She also leaves eleven amazing grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Service held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Christian Ministries Church in Hot Springs, AR.
